Andean Condor Integral Conservation Plan
AREA OF EDUCATION AND OUTREACH
The survival of the Andean Condor is bound up with cultural factors. While it has been venerated and protected for thousands of years by the native Andean communities, the relationship established with this species changed in the opposite direction since the Conquest of America and it is now endangered.
While breeding and rescue programmes are a powerful tool, education is fundamental to make a cultural change in society.
This is a necessary change, not only to ensure the conservation of the Andean Condor, but also through this very charismatic bird, to create awareness in the communities to preserve all the wildlife species and their natural habitat.
